Thanksgiving Assembly

 This week SALT put together a thanksgiving assembly. They began with reading Luke 17, the story of Jesus healing the 10 lepers. In this passage we are reminded that every gift is from God and we ought to thank him for them.
    During Thanksgiving we are reminded that we are to cultivate a spirit of gratitude….

SALT gave four big reasons for why we can be thankful in all circumstances.

1.  We are not alone. Though sometimes God feels distant, he is ever present. When the going gets tough it is easy to think that the world is against us. We must always remind ourselves that God is on our side.
2. God is sovereign. It gives us reassurance as we know that God has everything under control even when we do not. God is bigger than our circumstances.
3. We have hope. This kind of hope is not a reflection of what we would like to happen, but an assurance that it will happen. We can trust God’s promises with complete confidence.
4. We have God. Through faith we can learn to be thankful in all circumstances. By practicing thankfulness we can trust that God is good.
